At the bustling Backyard Sports Club in Gurugram, a staggering occurrence marred the Sunburn Festival as more than two dozen mobile phones vanished into thin air during a power outage, authorities revealed on Tuesday.
Amidst the electrifying ambiance of the festival, attended by approximately 10,000 enthusiastic patrons, chaos ensued when a sudden power trip occurred, providing an opportune moment for phone thieves to strike. As power was restored, dismayed attendees discovered their prized possessions missing, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Sector 65 Police Station swiftly acted upon receiving complaints from seven individuals, initiating a thorough investigation into the nefarious deeds of phone thieves lurking amidst the revelry. A dozen suspects were promptly apprehended, with two stolen mobiles successfully recovered from their possession, a commendable feat in the face of such audacious crime.
Among the aggrieved was Himanshu Vijay Singh, a Noida resident, who, along with his wife Awantika Poddar, fell victim to the cunning ploys of the phone thieves. Singh, in his plea for justice, identified several suspects, including Lakshay Rawal, Arjun Kachroo, Soumya Jyoti Halder, Sarthak Sharma, and Karan Chauhan, shedding light on the scope of the criminal activities at the festival.
Shaurya Gupta, another unfortunate victim, recounted the ordeal of losing his phone in the VIP lane, a supposed sanctuary amidst the chaos. Despite diligent efforts to locate the missing device, darkness and confusion prevailed, leaving Gupta and his companions at the mercy of the brazen phone thieves.
